Mardi gras

  • Mardi Gras. It brings to mind beads, parties and fancy floats in New Orleans as people cram in all the fun they can before Lent begins. In reality, Mardi Gras has long been celebrated in coastal towns from Texas to Florida. And it means big business.

  • MOBILE, Alabama-- Most Mardi Gras parades in Mobile and Baldwin counties that were scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, have been rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 19, according to a news release from the Mobile Police Department.

  • GALVESTON, Texas — Don't be surprised if you are in the lobby of The Tremont House in Galveston tonight and a guy looking like Smokey Robinson comes up to you and sings "My Girl.
