Brave

- Brave and its red-tressed heroine Princess Merida had the box office all bowed-up this weekend, posting a $66.7 million debut. This is Pixar doing what Pixar does, Disneys executive vice-president of exhibition Dave Hollis told TheWrap Sunday.
(TheWrap)- Why are Pixar's movies so universally well received, from critics to wide-eyed children? It's because the brain trust behind them is so, well, animated.
(New York Daily News)- The top spot at the box office is rare turf for Kelly Macdonald, a character actress known on the big-screen mainly for supporting roles in such films as No Country for Old Men, Finding Neverland and Trainspotting.
(Memphis Commercial Appeal)- Paris Jackson and a date attended the Brave movie Sunday, days ahead of the third anniversary of Michael Jacksons death. The 14-year-old looked like a typical teenager donning casual digs with a cell phone at the ready for texting while walking.
(Examiner)- In trailers for Pixar's new movie Brave, the filmmakers trumpet the gender of their latest protagonist. For the first time in the company's history, they have made a movie centered on a female, and they want you to take notice.
(policymic.com)- The royal family is central to the film: triplets Harris, Hubert and Hamish, Princess Merida, King Fergus and Queen Elinor.
(St. Petersburg Times)- Singer Julie Fowlis is typically used to songs that are a tad older than the ones she sang in Disney/Pixars Brave. Her comfort zone is about eight centuries ago.
(Los Angeles Times)- LOS ANGELES (AP) A new Disney princess has ascended to the box-office throne with a No. 1 debut for Pixar Animations Brave. 1. Brave, $66.7 million ($13.5 million international). 2. Madagascar 3: Europes Most Wanted, $20.2 million ($30.
(Spartanburg Herald-Journal)- The new Disney-Pixar collaboration "Brave," an animated Scottish fairy tale, is a smash hit, earning around $70 million in its first weekend and leaving its competition in the bog.
