Tacoma narrows bridge

  • Also: those planning to take the ferry from West Seattle To Southworth should know the line is about a mile long and includes cars from Tacoma that couldnt get across the Narrows Bridge today. Update: after a 5 p.m.

  • TACOMA -- For the first time in more than a decade, falling ice forced officials to close the Tacoma Narrows Bridge for more than six hours Friday afternoon.

  • Both Tacoma Narrows bridges were closed Friday due to falling ice, causing a 7-mile back-up. The bridge will remain closed until the safety concern has passed. The last time the bridge was closed for ice was Dec. 27, 1996. It was closed for wind in November 2008.
