21 jump street

  • SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- In theatres this Friday is a new version of the 80s TV series 21 Jump Street. The movie has a dimwitted jock, played by Channing Tatum, and a nerd, Jonah Hill, who knew each other in high school and are now slightly bumbling cops.

  • Based on the late-1980s TV show that starred a young Johnny Depp, the movie "21 Jump Street" could have been yet another example of Hollywood avoiding new ideas and lazily recycling old ones.

  • Jonah Hill and Channing Tatums R-rated comedy 21 Jump Street is laughing it up at the domestic box office and could cross $30 million in its debut.
  • (YAHOO!)
  • Spawned from the concept of the hit TV series, this version of 21 Jump Street is original in every sense of the word. The action-comedy stars Jonah Hill as Police Officer Schmidt, alongside Channing Tatum playing Officer Jenko.

  • SALT LAKE CITY -- The predictions made last week were fairly accurate. The Lorax held the first-place spot, a disappointment to second place John Carter and its $250 million budget.

  • OKLAHOMA CITY, March 16, 2012—Since Hollywood no longer makes anything original, we have become accustomed to seeing movies based on books, comic books and old television shows that were only on the air for four seasons.
  • (Washington Times)
  • When they say the movie 21 Jump Street is based on the late-1980s TV series that made Johnny Depp a star, they mean it very loosely. Yeah, its still about two young cops who go undercover at a high school to ferret out crime.
  • (Omaha World-Herald)
  • The only thing 21 Jump Street takes even remotely seriously is high school.
